Support the National Theatre
Whilst many people know that the National Theatre is one of the world's leading theatre producers, not many know that it is also a registered charity. Our enormously generous supporters help the National on its three stages and far beyond:
In our three theatres at the National (Olivier, Lyttelton and Cottesloe), we present an eclectic mix of over 20 new plays and classics each year. We are committed to making the National Theatre accessible to the widest possible audience. Since 2003, support from Travelex has meant we can offer over 100,000 seats a year at just £10 and our top-price tickets cost just £42.50.
As well as its world-class productions, the NT also has an extensive programme of Platform performances, backstage tours, foyer music, exhibitions and free outdoor entertainment, all of which recognise that the theatre does not begin and end with the rise and fall of the curtain.
"None of our repertoire would be able to take to the stage in the way it does without your support... I value it enormously, and I'm very grateful." Nicholas Hytner
The National Theatre is a pioneer in education. Through our discover: programme we spend over £2.5m a year on education, reaching out to over 170,000 people. This enables everyone and anyone, of any age or background, to discover more about the National Theatre's work and the staff and artists who create it.
Through a wide range of participatory programmes, learning projects and online resources we provide opportunities to develop creative, intellectual and practical skills and to explore all aspects of theatre performance and production.
The National Theatre takes a particular responsibility for new work. The NT Studio offers a space for research and development for the NT's stages and UK theatre as a whole. Located on The Cut in Waterloo, it provides a workspace outside the confines of the rehearsal room, where artists can experiment and develop skills.

The NT Studio re-opened in November 2007, following a 15-month redevelopment, enabling it to now offer the artists and directors of the future a professional sounding board away from public scrutiny.
"The National Theatre Studio is unique. Somewhere to experiment, to dream, to play, to hatch new plans. It's always buzzing with actors, directors and writers cooking up new projects. I've found it invaluable in developing my own work." Mark Ravenhill, Writer and NT Associate
"It's the theatrical equivalent of MI5 and MI6, a theatrical intelligence service. If it's going on in theatre, domestically or worldwide, and it's interesting, then someone at the Studio will know about it and then do their best to involve that person or group or country with the Studio at some point in future." Gregory Burke, Writer
As a truly national theatre, we tour our work and collaborate with other companies, fostering the health of the wider British theatre.
